University of Virginia Head Coach Al Groh - Nike Coach of the Year Clinic Speech 2008 Here is a copy of a presentation from Al Groh on the base 3-4 defense he prefers to run. I don't have any pictures but have a request out to some Virginia fans. USC did not face many 3-4 base defenses in 2007. Notre Dame purportedly was going to run a 3-4 in 2007 but I did not see the Irish actually play it very much. Stanford based out of a 3-4 alignment in 2006 but switched back to 4-3 front in 2007. Al Groh notes that most teams will not run weak side versus his team due to the overhang player in the 3-4. USC has run a lot of weak side zone plays the past couple of years so that will be something to watch on August 30th. For those interested here is Coach Groh's presentation.
